At Taylored Coaching, we do not believe that one size fits all. Every person has their own strengths and weaknesses. It’s the differences in individuals and the differences over time that make the standardised training programs less valuable.

We work with a range of athletes around the world to achieve the best they can do for their individual skills abilities and based on their individual life situations. The reality is that no matter what your situation your life commitments change over time, this is where we work with the athlete to focus on the most important aspects for their needs and maximise the outcomes for the time and resources available. From students to international business managers we customise training to get the best outcome of that person.

Athlete Coaching

 

Details vary according to the package the athlete selects however the approach is the same. Program delivery and monitoring is online usually via Training peaks. Using device feedback i.e. Smart Watch data file uploads, Bike power meters, smart bike trainers, and face to face discussion and reviews (via Zoom) we collect your data analyse it and update the training plan each week. There are regular two-way discussions and planning to discuss what is good or bad, what work and or life factors need to be taken into account for your training load etc.. We will address weaknesses and build on strengths. If you do not have certain resources we can discuss and see what alternatives are available.

 

Most athletes are time poor trying to balance family and work commitments, the use of a coach helps by getting the most training benefit from the athletes available time. We also offer mentor programs for those athletes who like to do their own programming but want help with structure and specific sessions.

Many athletes like to train with friends or have social group training sessions that they enjoy, we use these sessions and build them into the training plan, we do not want you to find yourself isolated because you have taken on a training program. We have customised programs, small groups of friends that train together and race together to ensure the social aspect and enjoyment remains whilst lifting the level of performance and competition.

Training Camps

 

We will run training camps mainly to target training blocks for specific races and achieve as much as possible race simulations according to the course etc. The schedules change according to the level of interest and the abilities of those interested, see the Training camp page for typical camp schedule and plan. The camps are open to most abilities and various performance levels are catered for. Camps are supported by a full time coach and support staff for open water safety support and back up vehicle bike support when on open road long rides.

 

Some camps cater for non-athletes to also so that the downtime can be shared.

Inclusive Program

 

Many athletes have stories or specific reasons why they decided to participate in triathlon and especially Iron distance. We have a program that helps people with special reasons to get discounted or free coaching. These spots are limited but we do have a waitlist and love to hear what inspired you to take on the challenge. There is no specific time of year when these are reviewed and preference is for those who are taking on a huge personal challenge or have a particular hardship that they are or have endured. There are also discounts available for those who are raising money for charities as part of their training or event.
